The most widely used blood test there is, paired with two inflammation markers, to show what your red cells, white cells and platelets are doing.
Complete Blood Count (CBC 20+). Over 20 values covering haemoglobin, red cell count and size, white cells and their types, and platelets.
C-Reactive Protein (CRP). A protein the liver releases quickly when there is inflammation or infection anywhere in the body.
Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate (ESR). How fast red cells settle in a tube; a faster rate is a general sign of inflammation that changes more slowly than CRP.
A full blood count is a broad first look at your health. Haemoglobin and red cell size can point to anaemia and hint at its cause, such as low iron or low B12. White cell counts can shift with infection, allergy or stress on the immune system. Platelets matter for clotting.
CRP and ESR add context. Together they show whether there is inflammation in the background, which can be linked with recent illness, injury, hard training, or longer-running conditions. A CBC is useful if you feel run down, get ill often, train hard, or want a baseline to compare against in future years.
Low haemoglobin is a sign of anaemia. Red cell size helps narrow the cause: small cells are often linked with low iron or thalassaemia trait, large cells with low B12 or folate. Your iron and B12 results from the same screen help fill in the picture.
This often reflects a recent infection or inflammation and may settle on its own. Persistently raised values, or very high or very low counts, should be followed up with your own doctor.
Reference ranges vary by lab, age and sex. A normal result is a useful baseline, and small shifts over time can be more telling than a single reading.
Reference ranges differ between labs, and a single result is a snapshot. Your consultant reads every value against your history and the rest of the screen, not in isolation.
This test is part of Baseline’s full blood screen: 122 parameters across ten systems from one draw, for AED 850, with results in 48 hours. It is not sold as a single test, because the result means more next to everything else.
Ranges are the lab’s own. Your consultant goes through what they mean with you.
Your results arrive in the Baseline app, every marker against the lab’s own range, checked by your consultant before you see them. The values above are an example.
This page is general information, not a diagnosis. If you feel unwell, or your symptoms are new or getting worse, speak to a doctor.
Reading is not a diagnosis. A consultation goes through your history with you and tells you plainly whether a program fits, including when it does not. AED 350, credited in full against your first order.
