Vitamin D, active B12, magnesium and phosphorus: four nutrients that affect energy, mood, muscles and bones, and that are often low without obvious signs.
Vitamin D (25-OH Total). The main storage form of vitamin D in the blood, the standard way to check your vitamin D status.
Vitamin B12 Active. The portion of B12 your cells can actually take up, which can show a shortfall earlier than a total B12 test.
Serum Magnesium. Magnesium in the blood, a mineral involved in muscle and nerve function, sleep and energy production.
Phosphorus. A mineral that works with calcium and vitamin D to build bone and is used in energy metabolism.
Low vitamin D is common in the UAE despite the sunshine. Much of life happens indoors, in cars or covered up, and the midday heat keeps people out of the sun when skin makes the most vitamin D. Darker skin also makes less vitamin D from the same exposure. Many people only find out they are low when they test.
B12 is worth checking if you eat little or no meat, fish or dairy, are over 50, or take some long-term medicines for diabetes or acid reflux, which can lower absorption. Magnesium and phosphorus round out the picture for muscles, sleep and bone health, and are useful context for your vitamin D result.
Many labs treat under 20 ng/mL (50 nmol/L) as deficient and 20-30 ng/mL as insufficient, though cut-offs vary by lab. Low levels are linked with tiredness, muscle aches and weaker bones. Your consultant will talk through options and when to retest.
Low active B12 is linked with fatigue, numbness or tingling and changes in red cells. It is worth looking at alongside your blood count, and a persistently low result should be discussed with your own doctor to find the cause.
Most magnesium sits inside cells, so a normal blood level does not always rule out low stores. Unusual magnesium or phosphorus values are read together with kidney function and vitamin D from the same screen.
Reference ranges differ between labs, and a single result is a snapshot. Your consultant reads every value against your history and the rest of the screen, not in isolation.
This test is part of Baseline’s full blood screen: 122 parameters across ten systems from one draw, for AED 850, with results in 48 hours. It is not sold as a single test, because the result means more next to everything else.
Ranges are the lab’s own. Your consultant goes through what they mean with you.
Your results arrive in the Baseline app, every marker against the lab’s own range, checked by your consultant before you see them. The values above are an example.
This page is general information, not a diagnosis. If you feel unwell, or your symptoms are new or getting worse, speak to a doctor.
Reading is not a diagnosis. A consultation goes through your history with you and tells you plainly whether a program fits, including when it does not. AED 350, credited in full against your first order.
