Testosterone is part of the male profile in the screen. It changes through the day, so when the blood is taken matters as much as the number.
Testosterone. The main male sex hormone, involved in energy, mood, sex drive, muscle and bone. It is measured on the male profile of the screen.
Testosterone is highest in the morning and can fall noticeably by the afternoon, especially in younger men. A sample taken late in the day can read low even when your morning level is fine. That is why testosterone is best measured from an early morning draw, and why a single low result is usually repeated on another morning before anything is read into it.
Low testosterone is linked with tiredness, low sex drive, low mood, poorer recovery from training and loss of muscle. Many everyday things lower it for a while: poor or short sleep, carrying extra weight, heavy drinking, illness, very hard training and eating too little. Seeing it next to your thyroid, blood sugar and other markers from the same draw helps show the wider picture.
A single low result is not a diagnosis. Testosterone varies from day to day, and guidelines recommend confirming a low reading with a second morning sample. Your consultant will look at sleep, weight, stress and your other results with you, and suggest when to speak to your own doctor.
Reference ranges are wide and vary by lab and age. A result in range alongside ongoing symptoms is still worth talking through, because other markers in the screen can explain the same symptoms.
Reference ranges differ between labs, and a single result is a snapshot. Your consultant reads every value against your history and the rest of the screen, not in isolation.
This test is part of Baseline’s full blood screen: 122 parameters across ten systems from one draw, for AED 850, with results in 48 hours. It is not sold as a single test, because the result means more next to everything else.
Ranges are the lab’s own. Your consultant goes through what they mean with you.
Your results arrive in the Baseline app, every marker against the lab’s own range, checked by your consultant before you see them. The values above are an example.
This page is general information, not a diagnosis. If you feel unwell, or your symptoms are new or getting worse, speak to a doctor.
Reading is not a diagnosis. A consultation goes through your history with you and tells you plainly whether a program fits, including when it does not. AED 350, credited in full against your first order.
