IgE allergy test at home in Dubai

Total IgE shows how strongly your immune system leans towards allergy overall. It does not tell you what you are allergic to.

    What the test measures

IgE (Allergy). Total immunoglobulin E, the antibody the immune system makes in allergic reactions. The screen measures the total amount, not IgE against any single trigger.

    Who should test

IgE is the antibody behind hay fever, allergic asthma, eczema and many food allergies. When you react to something, your body makes IgE aimed at it. Total IgE adds all of that up. A higher level suggests a stronger overall allergic tendency, which is often called being atopic. It cannot say whether the trigger is dust, pollen, a pet or a food.

In the UAE, dust and sand in the air, dust mites in air-conditioned homes and seasonal pollen are common triggers for sneezing, itchy eyes and skin flare-ups. A total IgE result is a starting point for that conversation. If you want to know your specific triggers, that needs separate, targeted allergy testing, which your own doctor or an allergy service can arrange.

    • Sneezing, a blocked or runny nose, or itchy eyes that keep coming back
    • Symptoms that get worse with dust, sandstorms or indoors with the air conditioning on
    • Eczema or itchy skin flare-ups
    • Wheezing or a cough that is worse at night
    • A family history of allergies, asthma or eczema

    How to prepare

    • Follow the fasting instructions for the full screen.
    • Keep taking any regular medicines as normal and tell your consultant about any allergy medicines you use.
    • Note any recent flare-up, since it can help explain the result.

    Reading your results

    If it comes back raised

A raised total IgE is often linked with allergic conditions such as hay fever, asthma or eczema. It does not show what you are allergic to. It can also rise with some parasite infections and, rarely, other conditions, so it is read with your symptoms and full blood count.

    If it is in range

A normal total IgE makes a strong allergic tendency less likely, but it does not rule out an allergy to a specific trigger. Reference ranges vary by lab and by age. Clear reactions to a food or sting need your own doctor whatever the result.

Reference ranges differ between labs, and a single result is a snapshot. Your consultant reads every value against your history and the rest of the screen, not in isolation.

    How the home test works

This test is part of Baseline’s full blood screen: 122 parameters across ten systems from one draw, for AED 850, with results in 48 hours. It is not sold as a single test, because the result means more next to everything else.

    • Nurse comes to you. A licensed phlebotomist visits your home or office, 7 days a week, anywhere in the UAE.
    • Accredited lab. Samples are processed by a CAP-accredited laboratory (College of American Pathologists), also accredited to ISO 15189, against clinical reference ranges.
    • Reviewed with you. Results land in your account in Baseline format, and your consultant walks you through them on video, never a PDF dumped in your inbox.

    Questions

Will total IgE tell me what I am allergic to?
No. It shows your overall allergic tendency, not your triggers. Finding specific triggers needs targeted allergy tests, which your own doctor can arrange.
Can I have a normal IgE and still have an allergy?
Yes. A normal total IgE does not rule out an allergy to one specific thing, such as a food or an insect sting.
Why do allergy symptoms seem common in the UAE?
Airborne dust and sand, dust mites in air-conditioned homes and seasonal pollen are all common triggers here for nose, eye and skin symptoms.
Can I book an IgE allergy test on its own?
No. IgE is part of the Gut, Stress & Allergy section of the full home screen, measured from the same single draw as everything else.
