A home blood test for your parents in Dubai

Getting a parent to a lab is often the hard part. With Baseline a nurse goes to them, takes one sample at home, and a consultant goes through the results with them on video.

    What you’ll learn
Why this is a good time to testWhat the screen checks, and when a consultation fits betterHow the home draw works, with results in 48 hours

    Why test now

Plenty of parents put off check-ups. The lab is across town, the wait is long, or they don't want to make a fuss. A nurse at the front door, at a time that suits them, removes most of those reasons.

If you live away from your parents, it also means you're not relying on a phone call to know how they're doing. They get their results in the Baseline app, a consultant talks them through every value, and they can share the summary with you if they want to.

    • They haven't had a full blood test in over a year
    • They take regular medicine for blood pressure, cholesterol or blood sugar
    • They seem more tired than usual, or slower to bounce back
    • Getting them to a lab is difficult
    • You want a gift that's useful, for a birthday, Eid or Mother's or Father's Day

    What the screen checks

Blood sugar. Fasting glucose, HbA1c and insulin show how blood sugar has been running over the last three months, which matters more with every decade.

Heart and cholesterol. A full lipid profile plus HS-CRP, a sensitive inflammation reading often looked at alongside cholesterol.

Kidneys and liver. Kidney function, electrolytes, a urine analysis and full liver tests. These are worth tracking for anyone on long-term medicine.

Vitamins, iron and blood count. Vitamin D, active B12, magnesium, iron stores and a full blood count. Low levels are common in later life and can sit behind tiredness.

Thyroid and a sex-specific profile. TSH, FT3 and FT4 for everyone, with testosterone and PSA on the male profile, or prolactin and CA 125 on the female profile.

    How to prepare

    • Book it in your parent's name, with their phone number and email, so the nurse and the consultant deal with them directly. If you're paying, say so in the notes box.
    • Make sure they're happy to have the test. It's their sample and their results.
    • They should fast overnight, with water only, and book a morning draw.
    • They should keep taking any regular medicine and mention it at the review.

    The screen or a consultation

Book the screen if you want a clear picture

For most parents the screen is the right place to start: one draw at home, 122 parameters, and a consultant explaining what each value means.

Start with a consultation if they have a specific goal

If your parent wants help with something particular, like weight, energy or sleep, a consultation is a better first step. The consultant will say whether the screen is needed first.

The consultation is AED 350, credited against your program if one is agreed within 30 days.

    How the home test works

Baseline’s full blood screen covers 122 parameters across ten systems from one home draw, for AED 850, with results in 48 hours.

    • Nurse comes to you. A licensed phlebotomist visits your home or office, 7 days a week, anywhere in the UAE.
    • Accredited lab. Samples are processed by a CAP-accredited laboratory (College of American Pathologists), also accredited to ISO 15189, against clinical reference ranges.
    • Reviewed with you. Results land in your account in Baseline format, and your consultant walks you through them on video, never a PDF dumped in your inbox.

    Questions

Can I book a blood test for my parents if I live abroad?
Yes. Book in their name with their contact details and pay by card as you book. The care team confirms the visit time with them, and the results go to their account.
Will I see my parent's results?
The results belong to your parent, so they go to their account. They can share them with you if they want to.
Is the home draw suitable for older people?
The nurse comes to the house at a booked time, 7 days a week, so there's no travel or waiting room. It's a standard blood draw from the arm.
    How much does it cost?
The full screen is AED 850. That covers the home visit, 122 parameters, the lab work and the video review with a consultant.
